- Introduction to relational databases: the basic concepts of tables, views, keys and relationships
- Overview of database modeling diagrams, and the relationships between tables
- Data versus information: structured and non-structured data
- Extracting data from a table with the SELECT command
- Using joins to query data from several tables
- Sorting and grouping
- Using Microsoft Query (Excel) to query data
- Using a query builder tool
- Designing simple and complex queries
- Using subqueries
- Set operations: UNION, INTERSECT and EXCEPT
- Validating and verifying queries.
