Java: Managing Persistence with Hibernate

Hibernate can reduce the complexity of applications and thus the risk of errors. It makes life easier for those with limited SQL knowledge, thanks to its object-relational mapping principle. Hibernate sits between the traditional Java objects and the database server to handle all the persistence work for these objects based on the appropriate O/R mechanisms and models, making life easier for developers. Hibernate has a layered architecture that allows the user to operate without having to know the underlying APIs. Hibernate uses the database and configuration data to provide persistence services (and persistent objects) to the application.
