At the end of this training course, participants will be able to use terminology to open the conversation on mental health with their team. Course architecture
This training session is designed as a space for managers to explore the theme of mental health prevention, in a safe and confidential setting. Beyond the topics listed below, the co-creation of ideas to apply good practices in the manager's role with his or her team is at the heart of this training.
1- Demystifying mental health
In this module, the participant will address the following points:
What is good mental health?
Current statistics on the subject
Frequent mental health disorders in the workplace
A better understanding of the components of mental well-being
The essentials for fostering mental health within our team
2- Stress and mental health
In this module, participants will cover the following points:
The foundations of stress and preconceived ideas
The physiology of stress
Stress-related symptoms
The impact of chronic stress on mental health
How to recognize signs for yourself and your team
3- Signs and symptoms
In this module, participants will cover the following points:
Recognizing personal triggers and symptoms
Recognizing potential signs of a mental health issue in a team member
Defining, understanding and naming a symptom
Self-assessing the intensity of symptoms, using tools and grids
4- The importance of caring
In this module, the participant will address the following points:
The foundations of benevolence and why it is useful in mental health
How to be benevolent to oneself first and to others
Developing a benevolent posture in one's role as a manager
Implementing messages to one's team that value support and openness in matters of mental health.
5- Self-management in mental health
In this module, the participant will address the following points:
Exploring the MHIC model proposed by the Mental Health Commission of Canada, so as to feel comfortable taking key actions in the event of a mental health crisis.
Reflect on the initiatives to put in place as part of your management practices, to promote the mental health of your team
The self-management approach as a step towards better overall health for yourself and to improve your posture as a manager
Create your own personalized toolbox.
Pedagogical details
Training architecture
Combining theory and practice, the training enables rapid, in-depth integration of what has been learned. It includes self-reflection exercises, team exercises, experimentation with different techniques, short videos, large-group exchanges, experience sharing, and the development of an action plan.
