Prospering with others

Prospering with others

Reaching your full potential is both a challenge (Rome wasn't built in a day) and a fantastic opportunity to acquire new knowledge and develop new skills, thereby strengthening your resilience, adaptability, performance and, indeed, your employability.

This potential to be achieved is quite vast, but it can be divided into four areas for action.

Enriching your foundations, which focuses on managing yourself and your skills, developing digital skills and adapting to change.

Thriving at work, which focuses on developing professional effectiveness and critical thinking skills.

Thriving in our environment, which we will deal with later, covers leadership, creativity and well-being.

Prospering with others, today's topic, which focuses on improving relationships to make you a person with whom you are happy to collaborate.

Prospering with others, yes, but how?

Very few people work alone, without any contact with a customer, a user, a supplier or anything else. Nor is this desirable. For balanced relationships with others, we need to :

  • Work together
  • Communicate
  • Manage relationships

Working with others

We all have to deal with complex situations and a wide variety of problems. To solve them, we need to hone our collaborative skills, in particular to stimulate collective intelligence: a strength that is still unsuspected and under-exploited. It is possible to take advantage of social sensitivity, emotional control, cooperation, etc. to increase cohesion and demonstrate benevolence, so as to multiply success.

Communicating with others

Working together is a good thing, provided that you are able to communicate effectively in all circumstances, to speak easily in public or to produce hard-hitting written documents. This makes it easier to understand expectations and objectives, so that the message and the project it supports are more readily accepted.

Managing relationships

Not every day at work or every project you're involved in runs smoothly and happily. This should come as no surprise. So you need to know how to manage your relationships, which can sometimes be delicate or thorny, whether with a colleague, an employer or a client. To avoid blunders, it's best to prepare in advance, whether it's having a difficult conversation, anticipating or defusing a conflict or managing complaints. The aim is to have sincere, balanced relationships that are conducive to achieving objectives.

Conclusion

Prospering with others means giving ourselves the means to maintain rich, healthy and pleasant relationships with our colleagues, customers and suppliers - in short, to prosper effectively within our ecosystem.
