Microsoft 365 MS-102: Administering, Securing, and Governing Your Tenant

Complete Preparation for MS-102 Certification - Entra, Defender XDR, and Purview

Microsoft 365 Administrator (MS-102) is a four-day technical training course that covers the entire scope of Microsoft 365 tenant administration at the organizational level.
You will work through four major areas: tenant governance and management, identity and access management with Microsoft Entra (multi-factor authentication, conditional access), threat detection and response with Microsoft Defender XDR, and the deployment of compliance controls with Microsoft Purview (classification, data loss prevention, retention, eDiscovery).
Each day is based on practical labs and real-world scenarios, ensuring you leave with operational skills that are directly transferable to your work environment.
The training prepares you for the MS-102 certification exam: Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert. A timed practice quiz, guided correction, and an individualized revision plan conclude the program.

Course overview

The training takes place over four thematic days. Each day alternates between presentations with live demonstrations, guided practical labs, and scenario-based workshops. A daily questionnaire (10 to 15 questions) helps consolidate learning throughout the week. The training concludes with a timed MS-102 exam simulation, followed by a guided correction and a personalized revision plan.

1 Day 1: Governing and Managing a Microsoft 365 Tenant

The Microsoft 365 tenant is the central control point for the entire organization. This first module provides an overview of the platform's architecture, administration portals, and role model, before covering organizational configuration, service health monitoring, and adoption data analysis. By the end of this module, you will have a solid operational configuration foundation to manage your Microsoft 365 environment.

Program:

  • Microsoft 365 tenant architecture: components, admin portals, and role model
  • Domain management and organization configuration (org settings, organization profile)
  • Service health monitoring, notifications, and network connectivity
  • Adoption, reporting, and platform usage dashboards
  • Synthesis workshop: setting up an operational tenant configuration base

2 Day 2: Managing Identities and Securing Access with Microsoft Entra

Microsoft Entra (formerly Azure Active Directory) is at the heart of identity and access management in Microsoft 365. This module covers the administration of users (internal and guests), groups, roles, and licenses, the configuration of multi-factor authentication (MFA), the implementation of Conditional Access policies, as well as troubleshooting authentication incidents using sign-in and audit logs.

Program:

  • Identity management: internal and guest (B2B) users, groups, roles, and licenses
  • Authentication methods and multi-factor authentication (MFA): configuration and scenarios
  • Conditional Access: policy construction, exclusions, testing, and best practices
  • Analysis of sign-in and audit logs, troubleshooting risky access
  • External access and identity governance (guests, B2B, governance principles)

3 Day 3: Detecting and Responding to Threats with Microsoft Defender XDR

Managing security incidents requires method, speed, and a good understanding of the available tools. This module approaches Microsoft Defender XDR (eXtended Detection and Response) from an administrator's perspective: understanding alerts and their correlation, triaging and investigating an incident, applying remediation actions, and fine-tuning detection policies to reduce false positives. The day concludes with a synthesis workshop on a comprehensive scenario, from the initial alert to the final report.

Program:

  • Microsoft Defender XDR overview: alerts, incidents, signals, and correlation
  • Incident triage and investigation: timeline, involved entities, scope, and initial actions
  • Response and remediation actions: best practices and limitations of the administrator role
  • Fine-tuning detection policies: alert management, exclusions, suppression, and Security Operations Center (SOC) governance
  • Synthesis workshop: full handling of a scenario, from the alert to the incident report

4 Day 4: Deploying Compliance Controls with Microsoft Purview and Validating Knowledge

Regulatory compliance in Microsoft 365 relies on Microsoft Purview. This final module covers data classification, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), retention and records management, eDiscovery, and auditing. An integrator workshop (capstone project) brings together the four domains of the training (tenant management, identity, security, and compliance) in a global governance scenario. The training ends with a timed MS-102 exam simulation, with guided correction and an individual two-to-three-week revision plan.

Program:

  • Microsoft Purview basics: compliance portal, Compliance Score, and Compliance Manager
  • Sensitivity labels, classification policies, and impact on end users
  • Data Loss Prevention (DLP): rules, scopes, alerts, and incident management
  • Data retention and records management
  • eDiscovery, auditing, and Content search
  • Integrator workshop: assembling identity + security + compliance, RACI matrix, and operational governance
  • MS-102 exam simulation: timed questionnaire, guided correction, and targeted revision plan
