Introduction to web accessibility

Everyone has heard of web accessibility. But in many organizations, the reality is more unclear: we don't really know why it matters, for whom it changes something, or by what standards to be guided. Without a common understanding, good intentions remain isolated, and initiatives fragile. This conference lays the shared foundations necessary for any coherent approach to accessibility. It answers the key questions: why, for whom, with what benchmarks. Participants will see the principles of digital accessibility, the international WCAG 2.2 (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) standards that serve as a reference in the field, as well as the main legal obligations applicable in Quebec and Canada, including the AODA, the government standard SGQRI 008 3.0 and the CAN/ASC - EN 301 549:2024 standard. By giving all teams a common language, a better understanding of the issues at stake and a clear vision of the requirements to be met, this conference offers the first impetus necessary to initiate a collective approach.
