Change Management: A Methodical Approach to Optimize Your Transformation Projects

Taking action in change management projects

Have you just taken on an organizational transformation project and are wondering where to start? Whether you’re leading a restructuring, implementing new technologies, or overhauling your processes, this two-day training provides you with a clear operational framework. Based on the globally recognized PROSCI approach, this program guides you step by step through managing the human side of change. In a “hands-on workshop” format, you’ll work on a simulated project reflecting the real challenges faced by organizations in Quebec. You’ll develop a comprehensive action plan (stakeholder analysis, communication, sponsorship, resistance management) that you can immediately apply to your own initiatives to mobilize your teams and embed lasting change.

Objectives

By the end of this training, managers and project leaders will be able to implement a comprehensive transformation process, identify its impacts, and foster long-term buy-in from teams.

Is it for you ?

  • Tangible deliverables: designing a management plan to ensure a successful transition within your unit.

Content

1. Preparing your transformation strategically

Before launching a change project, you must understand its true scope and identify who will be affected, how, and to what extent. This first phase equips you to make an accurate diagnosis of your current situation and design a solid intervention strategy.

  • Assessing the scope and nature of the change - You will learn how to map the concrete impacts of the project on the various components of your organization: processes, technologies, roles, and responsibilities.
  • Mapping your stakeholders - Identify who influences and who is influenced by the change. You will develop a detailed analysis to prioritize your efforts according to each group’s level of impact and influence.
  • Measuring organizational impacts - Assess precisely how the change will transform your teams’ daily work: task modifications, new skills required, and relational and structural adjustments.
  • Capturing a snapshot of your current organization - Create a portrait of your organizational culture, your history of change, and your collective capacity to absorb new transformations.
  • Defining your target organization - Clarify the vision of the desired organization after the transformation: expected new behaviors, skills to be developed, and the culture to be fostered.
  • Building your change management team - Determine the essential roles, responsibilities, and governance structure required to effectively lead your transformation project.

2. Deploying and orchestrating the transition

The strategy comes to life through action. This phase guides you in building five complementary intervention plans that together create the conditions necessary for your teams to adopt the change.

  • Developing your communication plan - Design a targeted communication strategy that informs, engages, and mobilizes your stakeholders throughout the transformation journey. Determine the key messages, the right moments, and the appropriate channels for each group.
  • Structuring your sponsorship plan - Change succeeds when leaders are visibly committed. You will build a plan to mobilize your sponsors, define their concrete actions, and measure their active engagement throughout the project.
  • Developing your support plan - Prepare your frontline managers to play their crucial role as coaches for their teams. You will define the support they need to effectively guide employees through the transition.
  • Designing your resistance‑management plan - Anticipate predictable objections and prepare adapted intervention strategies. You will learn to quickly identify signs of resistance and respond constructively.
  • Building your training plan - Identify the skill gaps created by the change and design a learning path to fill these needs. Determine the content, methods, and optimal training schedule.

3. Anchoring change sustainably

Change does not end on deployment day. This final phase gives you the tools to assess real adoption, adjust your interventions, and ensure that the new ways of working become durably integrated into your organizational culture.

  • Measuring adherence to the change - Use concrete indicators to assess where your teams stand in their adoption journey. Identify areas of success and sectors requiring additional support.
  • Taking stock after a few months - Compare the current situation with your initial objectives. Analyze the gaps between the expected results and the reality on the ground to understand what is working and what requires adjustments.
  • Determining adjustments and next actions - Based on your evaluation, identify the necessary corrective interventions and plan reinforcement actions to consolidate progress and continue the transformation.
