“When it comes to new technologies, the worst is not knowing what is out there…”

The developers who take my courses tend to have a difficult time relating their methods and current technologies with new ways of doing things or with applying new concepts.

Whether students are seeking information on wise choices in object modeling and processing, or about design patterns, handy methods, correct use of unit tests and of integration, or service-oriented architecture, I provide them not only with a solid theoretical foundation but also tools, techniques and references that enable them to put their knowledge into practice right away.

They learn proven solutions they can adapt to their specific situation, thus avoiding having to “reinvent the wheel”. My goal is to give them the means to move past the trial-and-error stage, in their chosen language. In so doing, they succeed in creating programs that are not only efficient, but reusable.”

“Small changes often make a big difference”

Let me tell you about a recent training experience.

One of my students was in charge of an extensive personnel restructuring project in his company and was having difficulty getting actual support from the management. While highly technically skilled, he simply could not deal with the human aspect of the problem.. He worked extremely hard, yet he felt he was going nowhere.

In cases like this, I believe that theory is not enough. People need immediate, proven solutions. I helped him realize that changing his way ofdealing with the problem was part of the solution—rather than ask fort help, he needed to quantify the problem and leave it up to his superiors to decide whether they were willing to pay the price for potential failure. In other words, he needed to talk in order to be understood.

This is precisely the type of approach we endorse at Technologia. As for me, I focus on the human aspect of problems, on communication and on process management. I am passionate about enabling my students to benefit from my 30 years of corporate experience and sharing my knowledge. This is my way of helping to build a better world.”

“Bridging the gap between theory and practice”

Individuals who choose a project management course often face immediate obstacles.

My courses are based on a skill model. I present students with tools, case studies, and examples in order to enable them to develop skills and the ability to use these skills. Theory is also important, but my goal is to teach students how to apply it in order to obtain concrete results.

I recall one individual employed by a very large corporation who had been mandated with consolidating project planning with the purpose of generating a general overview and approach. This was a considerable challenge, as it required unifying and standardizing the work of employees at various sites who had already developed their own methods.

After his first class, the student had already learnt enough to begin undertaking this task and move the project forward. In my opinion, the proof that people benefit from Technologia’s highly practical approach is that their companies often call upon us to provide more target-specific training or tackle even larger goals.

Our Trainers: The best in Quebec

98.6% of participants recommend the courses they have taken to their colleagues. This is why Technologia is THE training specialist, and why the majority of Quebec's 500 largest companies entrust us with their employee training.

These percentages are calculated using evaluation sheets filled out by participants at the end of each course (for the period beginning June 1, 2007 and ending May 31, 2008). The referral rate is calculated from the number of participants answering the question, "Would you recommend this course to your colleagues?"
