Prerequisites

Experience with HTML web page creation (Course WE106) and JavaScript (Course WE105). Familiarity with the CSS-3 standard is desirable.

HTML5 syntax: elements, attributes, DOCTYPE
New structural elements: section article, header, hgroup, footer, nav, aside, figure, time
Custom attributes with data
Forms: new input controls; the placeholder, required, min, max and autofocus attributes; the datalist, meter, progress and output elements; editable content
User interaction: drag and drop, the browser history API
SVG support for incorporating vector graphics
Graphics and multimedia: interacting with canvas using JavaScript; audio and video elements; supported audio and video formats and codecs
Application development: local storage, microformats, geopositioning, multitasking with web workers
HTML5 browser support
Tools for HTML5: Modernizr, validators
