Objectives

To provide the knowledge and skills required to implement high availability techniques with load balancing under Linux, in order to guarantee ensured access to your production servers.

Target Audience

Networking specialists.

Prerequisites

Experience with Linux administration (Course UN201).

Content

  • Introduction to clusters and high availability
  • The various types of clusters available with Linux (Linux HA, OpenSVC...).
  • Data storage in a clustered environment (DRDB - iSCSI...).
  • File systems in a clustered environment (GFS - GPFS...).
  • Installing a high-availability Linux cluster: overview of the choices for the architecture, practical tasks (installation of Apache, MySQL, ... for HA)
  • The various types of services available in high-availability under Linux (email, web, storage, directory services, databases...)
  • Concepts of load balancing: the various software and hardware tools available (HAProxy),
  • Managing a cluster: updates, monitoring and the available tools.
