Objectives

To provide the knowledge and skills required to read and analyze financial statements and to evaluate a financial situation for more informed decision-making.

Target Audience

Corporate managers, department heads, project managers and project leaders with little financial or accounting experience.

None.

Content

  • The language of finance and accounting: terminology and conventions
  • How the main financial statements are structured: balance sheet, profit-and-loss statement, retained earnings, cash flow
  • Tools for analyzing the various financial statements
  • Financial ratios: interpretation, return on investment, break-even point, limits and trends
  • The link between financial and accounting analysis and strategic development
  • Comparing corporate results with industry norms
  • Analyzing the profitability or cost effectiveness of sales, share participation, share financing
  • A model for predicting financial distress (bankruptcy)
